Debórah Dwork is one of the world's foremost Holocaust historians. She is the Director of the Center for the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Crimes Against Humanity at the CUNY Graduate Center, New York. She was the inaugural Rose Professor of Holocaust History and Founding Director of the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University, where she created the first doctoral program anywhere in the world specifically in Holocaust History and Genocide Studies.

## Current Work

### Saints and Liars (W.W. Norton, 2025)
Dwork's newest book tells the story of Americans — Quakers, Unitarians, Jews — who traveled to Europe to aid refugees and, step by step, turned to rescuing people targeted by Nazi Germany and other racist states. The book follows rescue workers in five cities: Prague, Vilna, Shanghai, Marseille, and Lisbon. It was selected by Library Journal as a Stellar Book for 2025 and is a Finalist for the National Jewish Book Award in Nonfiction. More information at saintsandliars.org.

### Dear Tante Elisabeth (in progress)
Her next project draws upon a cache of over 1,000 letters written by Jewish parents to their children and from the children to their parents, sent through Elisabeth Luz, a middle-aged, middle-class Christian woman in Stäfa, Switzerland. Working title: *Dear Tante Elisabeth: An Extraordinary, Ordinary Christian during the Holocaust*.
